NYE 2012

I’ve never been a huge fan of celebrating NYE with lavish parties.  Someday I would like to attend one of the big parties in downtown KC, perhaps at Union Station or the Marriott.   For now I will enjoy spending a quiet evening at home with my kids.  Except this year it wasn’t so quiet.  We invited several of our friends and family to join us at our house.  For selfish reasons, mainly because my kids are at that stage when out in pubic or other peoples homes I spend the entire time yelling “don’t touch that” and “no”.   By my count there were at one point 18 people at our house on NYE.  11 of those people made it to midnight and beyond.  We had a blast stuffing our faces, drinking homemade sangria, playing Quelf *a must have party game* and ringing in the New Year with loud noisemakers and a bit of bubble blowing in the house.

For Christmas I received a set of drink themed cookie cutters and knew I would have to make some for the party:

First up: Margaritas, this picture was taken prior to me adding the sanding sugar “salt line”

I also received wine glass and champagne flute cutters, as well as martini and beer bottle (which I did not make this time around, but I have big plans).

Lastly here is a platter of cookies I made for a good friend’s NYE Party.  Platter arrangement was done by her and I stole this picture off Facebook, since I failed to take one myself.

Special Occasion Cookies

I don’t just make cookies for the major holiday’s, I also take special orders for Birthdays, Baby Births, Baby Showers, Bridal Showers, just because and more!

The ‘Loopy Daisy’ is one of my favorite cookies to design and looks great on a platter with other focal point cookies.  They also make  a great “just because” cookie.  I’ve done loopy daisies for boss’s day and on a platter with ladybugs for my niece’s first birthday party.

The Wedding Dress, popular for wedding shower favors, bridal party treats for the day of, but can also be used to make a fun Disney dress.  This past fall I used the dress to fashion a Rapunzel dress for birthday girl Payton (pictures to follow when I can locate the memory card they are stored on).

Princess Crowns- popular for the birthday girl whether you are 4 or 40!
